Good Afternoon, I have been experiencing ear bleeds only at night without any precursor trauma other than potentially acoustic trauma. Additionally, I have had intermittent ringing in my ears rarely. Two days ago, my left ear was bleeding slightly, last night my right ear bled enough to leave some spots on the pillow and leave dried blood throughout my ear canal. Otherwise, I haven t had any hearing degradation or absolute loss, no balance or motor issues. I cannot see any scratches or abrasions within the ear canal, and finally I haven t experienced any headaches. Any ideas what this could be? I appreciate your help.
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Potential acoustic trauma could be the cause for ear bleed . A sudden change in ear canal pressure could even cause ear drum damage. I recommend the following. 1) Avoid exposure to loud noise. 2) Use ear plugs to prevent damage from loud noise. When you are expecting to come across such events. 3) Otoscopic examination of the ear to rule out ear drum damage.
You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help. Wish you a good health and speedy recovery. Regards, Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS Consultant ENT Surgeon
