What Causes Ear Canal Infested With Maggots Like Flies?

When I was using the bathroom TMI but I just got home from a trip. I live out in country and our home gets flys every summer. When I went to use the bathroom I soon realized a fly was in the toilet and landed near my vag. It was buzzing and I got scared and immediately got up and fly flew away. I was honestly so grossed out but besides being disgusted I was wondering if anything could be wrong after that. Like I know it sounds silly but like could maggots end up being in me or something? I just heard about people getting them in their ears.. I know this question is gross but as a grossed out person and now a anxious perso I m wondering if I m alright

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Larval stage of fly can be seen in ear rarely. They reside in the ear canal and eat away ear oils and wax in ear (ear maggots are seen very rarely, mostly in topical zone (being moist and humid). They damage inner skin of ear to cause irritation, itching, pain, redness around ear and may facilitate other infections. I don't think you have maggots in the ear as you do not mention any of above symptoms. Fly touching vagina cannot cause maggots in ear. Still if you are doubtful, get yourself checked by an ENT doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
