What Causes Ear Congestion While Recovering From Cold And Flu?
So I have just started getting over a cold/flu, and I m now experiencing a plugged ear feeling in one specific side. I m assuming it s just the pressure difference within the ear, but it s been about 3 days now. I ve tried all the little tricks to pop my ears, as well as two different decongestants, within these 3 days. None of them have worked. I was wondering what the normal amount of time is for this to last? As well as maybe any suggestions to help it go away?
I understand your concern. FYI, ear and nose are connected with a pair of canal (right and left) named Eustachian Tubes to keep the pressure in the ear same as at atmosphere. If you had cold and flu before, it will affect the pressure in middle ear because the congestion on nose make the canal become constriction and make the pressure in the middle ear drop, it will make a mucus produced and make effusion.
Please check to your otolaryngologist for better examination. He may will be given you another decongestan drugs.
Make sure you maintain your health, drink more water, and get enough rest. Thank you.
