What Causes Ear Congestion While Suffering From Tinnitus?
I had tinnitus for more than a year now. Recently I woke up with my right ear feeling full. I figured it was earwax so I put saltwater in my ear so it would come out. Later on everything I hear from my right ear sounds robotic. I’m scheduled to see an ent in the next week but I don’t think I can handle this discomfort for that long. What do I do in the meantime? I’m very nervous. Thank you for your help.
Ear congestion while suffering from tinnitus is due to wax accumulation, eustachian tube dysfunction, and excessive ear infection. Need not to worry. You should avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain the hygiene of the ear canal. Go for Valsalva maneuvers. I would suggest you consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. The doctor may order certain test like CT scan, low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss, exposure to loud noises, and earwax build-up. Apply warm compresses on the ear. Put Otogesic ear drops.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
