What Causes Ear Infection Along With Cold In A Child?

My 2 1/2 yr old daughter has been on antibiotics for 7 days but her fever has now returned past 24 hrs. She switched antibiotics 3 days into it bc she seemed to have allergic reaction to augmentin so is now on cefdinir 5m once a day. Is this typical or does she need to go back to dr to be checked. She is supposed to be on medicine another 6 days. He initial diagnosis was double ear infection. She is now coughing and has bad cold too
