What Causes Ear Numbness And Neck Stiffness?

My left ear has been slightly numb for about 18 hours now after i woke up, also part of my neck near the ear, and part of my face. My neck is stiff with little pain. Pinched nerve? Concussion? What should i rule out first? Should I be worried? What should i do if this persists?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Stiff neck on waking can be related to sleeping position and spasm of the muscle. It is possible if this area was compressed or abnormally positioned then it may have contributed to the numbness that you are experiencing.

A concussion occurs after head trauma, if you had head trauma then this would have to be considered.

If this is not the case then the use of a muscle relaxant and anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen may help.

I hope this helps
