What Causes Ear Pain After Blowing Nose?

I blew my nose last night but only my right nostril. Now my right ear hurts, so about 8 hours later I felt like I had a head cold so I popped my ears by yawning but when they did there was a pain in my right ear and it s not going away. Now whenever I slightly yawn or hiccup there s a pain in my right ear and I don t know what to do about it and also getting kinda worried.

Hi. Ears hurt after blowing the nose because of the increased pressure within the Eustachian tube that connects the back of the nose to the middle of the ear. The excessive pressure entering the middle ear causes the popping and stretches the eardrum leading to pain. Perform the Toynbee's Maneuver 3-5 times a day for a week. (available on the internet)
