What Causes Ear Pain While On Amoxicillin For Allergies?
My 8yr old son has been suffering from allergy issues and was on amoxicillin up until a week ago today. And appeared to he getting better..but sudden today complained of both ears hurting and his eyes look watery amd 8s currently asleep with 100.8 temp. I have givem him 7.5 ml of acetaminophen 45 mins ago. He sounds like hes breathing through a sponge and his heart rate seems elevated ...i have mixed info on er...help!
Fever, ear pain, congestion are usually in keeping with a viral upper respiratory tract infection (common cold or flu). The increased heart rate would occur as a result of the fever and the infection itself. The heart would decrease as the illness improves.
An anti histamine decongestant combination would help with the congestion and may even help with the ears since some of this is related to sinus congestion as well. The acetaminophen should be given according to his weight or it would not be effective. If you remain concerned then you should take him to be seen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
