What Causes Ear Pain?

Hi! My ear ache started 5 weeks ago. Had one of my friends to view my affected ear canal. It was inflammed looking on the inner wall of the ear canal. I tried to make an appointment with my GP. I was referred to the nurse and then back to the doctor. By now I had loss 4 days of treatment. I was prescribed antibiotic/antiseptic spray by the GP when I finally saw one. A week later, I made an appointment with another GP as the spray was not improving my symptoms. 500mgs of Amoxicillin X3 per day was prescribed. It is now 5 days since the start of the antibiotics. I have been experiencing dizziness since 2 days after the start of my oral antibiotics. This symptom has not improved nor has the intermittent earache. Could you give me some idea and advise as to what is happenning to my ear? Thank you.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, when there is acute inflammation in the ear canal wall that is Acute otitis externa in case of injury or infection of hair follicle it causes severe pain in ear canal. Because the skin is very closer and adherent to the underlying bone, so the inflammed skin when moves on the bone by touch or pull it causes more pain.
You meet your ENT Dr to do normal saline cleaning and Icthammol Glycerine packing daily till it heals completely ; along with analgesics and if required antibiotics. take care.
