Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had my tonsils removed recently and I m at the end of day 9 post-op. My left side is healing quite nicely, but on my right there is a small red bulb thing and when I eat or move my head, sharp pains get sent up to my right ear, originating from the area of the red thing. Is this normal in the healing process?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. No, this is not normal. Possibility of Eustatian tube infection is more likely. Eustatian tube is structure between pharynx and inner ear. Tonsillectomy can cause infection in pharynx cause Eustatian tube infection which is causing ear pain. So better to consult ENT doctor and discuss all these. You will need antibiotic ear drops and oral antibiotics. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
