What Causes Early Menstruation While On Treatment For Bacterial Vaginitis?

Hi, so in december I had unprotected sex, the next month I had gotten spotting for 2days. I went to the doctors to take a pregnancy test and it came out negative, that same day I took swabs to make sure I didnt have anything. It came out that I had bacterial vagnosis but I didn t find out till a couple of weeks after. So they gave me some pills to get rid if it and I took them, the same night I got my period which was on the 5th of February and I usually get it on the 25th of every month, ever since then I ve been getting my period on the 5th, 4th or 6th of every month. What does this mean ?.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

There are many factors affecting your menstrual periods including bacterial vaginosis and related treatment. These are normally changes and you should not be worried about.

I advise to :
- take the medications as prescribed by your gynecologist
- keep a good genital hygiene
- avoid sexual intercourse until complete treatment

All the best!
