HI
Well come to HCM
If the swelling is due to infection (Virus) then this may cause the inflammation and it could be pitting edema like seen in renal disease, in my opinion such condition requires the same line of treatment as treated in inflammation due to infection and injury and not with diuretic, if it is proved edema due to renal disease or due to cardio-pulmonary disease then diuretic can be tried, till the Tab Ibuprofen 400 mg three times in day can be used keep the leg in elevated positon, hope this answer helps.
