Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Edema or swelling in hands, feet or even face is a common problem in late
pregnancy. This is due to excessive retention of fluid in body. This problem occurs due to pressure of growing baby on the
inferior vena cava ( a large vein recieving blood from legs) .Swelling is less in the morning, after you've been lying in bed & tends to get progressively worse as the day goes. You could do following measures to reduce swelling.
- Put your feet up whenever possible, as this will help with your circulation. At work, keep a footstool or box under your desk. At home, try to lie down on your left side, as this takes pressure off the inferior vena cava.
- Try not to stand for long periods of time. At work, you should be able to take regular breaks.
- Decreasing the salt intake helps to reduce the edema
