What Causes Edema In The Ankle And Feet While On Diuretic And Warfarin?

what can I do to reduce ankle & feet edema. It has only been present for last 5 days. I am reducing my salt, elevating them. I am on diuretic & warfarin. My I.N.R. was 1.5 & blood pressure as 142/70 today. Should I be worried or besides pushing fluids to nite, can it wait till tomarrow to be seen by my D.R.

Hello,

Yes, can wait until tomorrow. But should monitor your blood pressure (bp), and record the results for reference.

Plus, you need a complete checkup :
- complete blood count
- urine analysis
- liver/kidney/pancreas function test
- and a further re-evaluation of the your cardiovascular system through EKG, echocardiogram and stress test.

I think you need some changes in your current medical therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
