What Causes Edema In The Legs And Feet While Suffering With Afib?
I have permanent AFib and CHF. I m doing well on meds, but have a lot of edema in my legs and feet. I ve noticed that my left leg and foot is more swollen than the right, and the toes tend to be dry, blueish in color, with pin-pricks of red dots on the top of that foot and the ankle. Only on my left foot, not the right. I ve tested negative for PAD. Your thoughts? Suggestions?
Hello,
Leg and feet swelling can happen with congestive heart failure and this may be a very likely cause of your symptoms. Also some medications like Amlodipine may cause leg and feet swelling and may be the cause if you are using it. If you have skin red dots on the legs you will need to be seen by a doctor to rule out petechiae. If petechiae is the likely cause of the red dots then you will need some tests to find out the cause of it like: CBC, ERS, bleeding time, hemorrhage time, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
