What Causes Edema In The Spinal Cord Long After A Lumbar Fusion On L4 And L5?

I had L4 and 5 lumbar fusion 9 years ago. I now have two bulging disc on both side for L3 and 4 and edema in spinal chord. I have tried conservative ice packs, rest exercise but pain continues to increase. Driving and sitting I crese pain. What are the best options? I have a consultation with a spinal pain management doctor this Friday.. What should I be looking for in terms of help?

I really appreciate your concern, if this is the spinal cord degenerative disease then pain would be main concern, pain can be managed with medicine in most of the case and when it fails to work then surgery would be the option for this, you can discus this with doctor hope this information helps.
