What Causes Electric Shock Like Feeling Behind The Ear?
I have this weird shock or zapping feeling behind my right ear. It happens every now and then (couple of times a day) and it really hurts. It happens when I turn my head suddenly, or not suddenly. It also happens sometimes when I squat down. Incase it matters, I have scoliosis, and am soon going to a orthopedic neuro doctor (I think that s what it was). I haven t started going yet, but incase the scoliosis, is part of this, or is causing this, that is something you may need to know. Please let me know what it could be, or any ideas! Thanks!
The abnormal sensation may be due to the scoliosis if it is affects nerves in the cervical region, these would be the nerves supplying the neck area.
The abnormal sensation would be due to neuropathy- this refers to abnormal structure or function of the nerves. In addition to trauma from bones/vertebra there are other causes.
Some of the other causes are: (a) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency (b)diabetes (c) liver or kidney disease (d)exposure to toxins (e)side effect of medication (f)infections such as shingles (g)neurological diseases such as ms or stroke
You may need to be assessed by your doctor.
I hope this helps
