What Causes Electrical Shock Like Feeling In Shoulders, Jaw And Neck?

Hello Today I had an unusual sensation across the top of my shoulders, jaw, neck and back of throat. It is difficult to explain - it was not pain, but more like an electrical or static para thesis type feeling. It lasted approximately 1-2 minutes. My heart rate remained relatively steady during this time at 57 bom. My concern is that this might be heart related. For added context at the time it occurred I was sitting at my desk working quietly. About an hour later I went for a walk combined with a slow jog and had no similar sensation. My heart rate did vary between 135 and 67 during exercise but seemed to correlate to effort. My history is that I am smoker (approx 7 cigarettes a day for 18 years). I am 40. Two years ago I had a ct angiogram owing to cardiac symptoms but had calcium score of 0 and my pains were attributed to anxiety. Numerous ekg and blood tests since that test have confirmed this. This sensation is new so just interested in doctors take. Otherwise feeling fine. Could it be a nerve/ spinal issue?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to anxiety. But if it happens again, then it is better to get a neurological check-up done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
