What Causes Electrifying Sensation In Left Neck While On Dual Chamber Pacemaker?

I have a dual chamber pacer, non-defibrillator secondary to chronic AFib with RVR. My atrial ablations failed twice before receiving the pacer. I am currently having S/S of low K+, fatigue, mild generalized muscle weakness and cramping. Yesterday, I felt an electrical shock along my left neck down to my left breast. This has happened three times since. The current is mild, yet very noticeable and concerning. Would I feel an electrical shock from my pacer? Boston Scientific Model S402

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The current feeling in left neck seems most likely in concern with carotid artery impulses and there can be association with impulse transmission issues at electrode levels through pace maker (low potassium also supports this theory). However, your cardiologist is best person to help you in this regard by your clinical examination, EKG and carotid Doppler ultrasound examination.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
