What Causes Elevated BP While On Eliquis For Atrial Fibrillation?

I am taking Eliquis 2.5 for A Fib. Every 12 hours. My BP has been spiking for about 4 hours. 169/87, etc. A year ago an ER doctor gave me some Clonidine HCL 0. MG to take at home. I usually have low readings (110/72; 98/80, etc.) . I am 83 and do not have any other problems or take any other meds.

Hi,

High blood pressure is not related to Eliquis. Sometimes, especially when the blood pressure goes up only for a few hours very likely it is related to stress or anxiety and we do not need to do any treatment but just monitor it unless you develop symptoms like headaches, dizziness or any neurological signs.

If your blood pressure stays high then you will need to see your doctor and have a check of your heart and some blood tests and maybe consider treatment if it stays high for a few weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
