Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor just put me on lopressor 25 milligrams, twice a day as my blood pressure ranges between 150/160 over 70 or 80. I am on lisinopril 40 mg & amiodipine 10mg, but my pressure remains high. Is this an overkill. I had a stroke 24 yrs ago, due to high blood pressure, so don t want a repeat.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since your blood pressure is still in the higher range with two medications, it is necessary that a third medication is added to your regime. So please continue Lopressor as prescribed. Also, make sure that you follow DASH (Dietary approach to stop hypertension) and exercise daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
