What Causes Elevated GGT Level Along With Upper Abdominal Pain?

Hello! My GGT result is 81 , sometimes pain on RUQ; the rest of blood results=normal. I don t drink alcohol, but i drink daily coffee with a lot of flavor cream (Irish, Caramel, etc) . Also, did heme stool x 3 = positive. Why heme stool is positive??? It can be r/t to...???? Tks for your A.

Understand your concern.
Your GGT is sligh high
Following are the causes of high GGT level:
1. Chronic liver disease (Along with GGT, other enzymes like AST,ALT and ALP and billirubin also increased)
2. Alcohol Addiction (Only GGT will increased)
3. Metabolic syndrome
4. Diabetic melitus type 2
5.Drugs: barbiturates, phenytoin, aspirin
6.Congestive heart failure


But heme in stool suggest some pathology in gastrointestinal tract liike:
Ulcer in GI Tract
Inflammatory bowel disease
Sickle cell anemia
Haemolysiss
Diverticulosis
Polyp in GI tract
Haemorrhoids/fissure

For exact diagnosis you should consult the gastroenterologist and undergo following test:
CBC, ESR
Abdominal USG
Colonoscopy
Upper endoscopy

After the diagnosis you can take proper treatment
