What Causes Elevated HCG?
I am a 53 year woman in my third month of Accutane 30 milligrams a day, for menopausal cystic acne on face, chest and back. I am ecstatic that the Accutane has been working after all else has failed, but my third month blood work came back with a 5 HCG, indeterminate. We all know that I m not pregnant, but my doctor wants to stop the Accutane. I have no problems or side effects and I don t want to stop. Why do I have an elevated HCG?

It needs a work up.it increases in pregnancy. We all know but sometimes there are hcg secreting tumours, gtd (trophoblastic disease)or a pituitary source of hcg must be considered.visit an endocrinologist.
