What Causes Elevated PSA Level?

I am a 62 year old male in good health. 18 months ago, my psa was 1.2. Two days ago, the results of the psa test was 1.8. There is a history of prostate cancer in my family. My father and grandfather both had it, had a prostatectomy, and no further problems. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through your query and I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.

As a physician I would like to tell you that your blood results are borderline as the history of prostate cancer runs in your family, if you are experiencing associated symptoms, you need to get evaluated by a MS surgeon clinically to establish a diagnosis and to initiate treatment plan.

Symptoms of BPH are frequent or difficult urination, nocturia, pain while urinating, different colored urine than normal.

Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet
