What Causes Elevated SGPT And SGOT Levels In Blood?
Hi, My blood check done yesterday with LFT for the Liver. The count of SGPT and SGOT shows more than 300. What would be the reason for that? Iam a cholestrol patient with 250 LDL count and had fatty liver problem for the last 6 years. What would be the reason of sudden rise in SGPT SGOT counts? I have done Ultra scanning today, and they have given me the report saying that i have severe fatty liver issues and the liver size has been increased.Pls help.
SGOT and SGPT are sensitive indicators of liver damage or injury from different types of diseases or conditions, and collectively they are termed liver tests or liver blood tests.
So the next step is to look for certain liver damage and most common cause is fatty liver disease.
It should be confirmed by ultrasound. Other causes are viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, medications, alcohol intake or autoimmune diseases.
To verify exact cause, US, bilirubin levels and tumor markers should be additionally done Then appropriate treatment can be started.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
