What Causes Elevated Bilirubin Level In Adults?

I am diabetic for the last 17 years. I retired two months back. My job was very stressful being a senior officer of a nationalized bank ( Chief General manager). After retirement, my sugar level has decreased. HbA1c has come down to 5.7. On few occasions my blood sugar level goes below normal level in the evening which shows that I need to decrease quantum of medicine level. At present I am taking Glycomet Gp 2 twice daily ( morning at breakfast and evening dinner), Jalra 50 mg / 500 mg in the afternoon at lunch and vobose .3 mg twice morning and evening. Which medicine I should decrease. Also my Billirubin level is high ( 1.35 and conjugated 0.37. any precaution required to be taken. G.S.sachdeva

Hello,

You may need to take Glycomet-GP in the morning. If the hypoglycemia episodes persist or occur frequently, then we will have to change the dose of other drugs too. Your bilirubin level is only slightly elevated than normal. Conjugated bilirubin is at normal level. So, you don't need to worry about bilirubin. You may have to repeat the liver function tests including bilirubin levels after 2 months.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
