What Causes Elevated Blood Glucose And Cortisol Levels?

I am an active, 35 yr old female. Low blood pressure and cholesterol. I take 112 mcg Levothyroxin, T3 and T4 levels are good. Recent blood work showed glucose was high @ 90, dhea sulfate was 316, and cortisol also high. I have a history of anxiety and depression. My doctor suggested cutting gluten, carbs and alcohol (I already follow a very unprocessed, added-sugar free diet.). An MD friend who knows my lifestyle and diet argues that all my issues are adrenal based, and I should see an endocrinologist and get a thyroid ultrasound. I’d love additional input.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you are not diabetic then you need to only take care of thyroid function. The medicine you are taking right now (Levothyroxine ) and it is to be continued for life time, else it is nothing to worry at all.

Hope I have answered your query, let me know if I can assist you any further.
