What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure And Pulse Rate While On Verapamil?

I woke up from restless sleep and feeling clammy. Took my BP and it was 128/ 82 pulse rate was 37. I took it several times. BP is staying in a fairly close average but pulse rate is going from 36 to 72, but mostly around 37. I take Sotalol and verapamil for arrhythmia. Should I be concerned? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, you should consult the cardiologist, and work out for bradycardia. That Verapamil is ca++ channel blocker drug, having the direct action on the heart, so heart rate goes up whereas Sotalol is class 3 antiarrhythmic drug which corrects the irregular rhythm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
