What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Level While On Telmisartan And Metoprolol?

I am a house wife 51 with RBBB. I am on Metaprolol 12 .5 and Telmisartan 20. But some times, my bp suddenly shoots up to 160/96 just for 15 to 20 minutes which otherwise remains normal. Is it due to metoprolol?I am also taking Nexito Plus for depression. Dr says my hr remains low around 60. Kindly advise.Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

No, the shooting up your blood pressure is not due to Metoprolol or any other medications you are taking. Take the medications as prescribed to you. Stay away from stress, anxiety, take adequate rest and drink plenty of water, stay relaxed and you will not have the discomfort with shooting up of the blood pressure. Do regular exercises, do not gain weight.

Visit ER, take lipid function tests, urinalysis, ECG, echocardiography, X-ray, and stress tests to rule out any developing coronary artery disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
