What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels In The Morning?

My husband usually has high blood pressure especially in the morning. He was simply sitting at the computer a minute ago (just sitting) and suddenly felt lightheaded and sweaty like he was going to pass out. I checked his pressure which was unusually low and had him lie down with his feet higher than his head. He is 68 years old. What do you think?
