What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels While On Tylenol And Amlodipine ?

I am taking 4-5 extra strength Tylenol a day spaced out over 24 hrs. Have been taking that amount for six days after stopping Advil, because of an upcoming knee surgery. I am on 2.5 mg of Amlodipine once a day for high blood pressure. I have noticed the last few days my blood pressure is high 145/91 today. Is it probably the Tylenol causing it to go up. I m not taking any other meds.Should I cut way back on the Tylenol and use ice for the pre op pain?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Tylenol even extra strength taken more number of times a day is unlikely to raise BP. Your BP 145/91 mm Hg, is possibly due to inadequate dose of Amlodepine (2.5 mg). So if that is increased to 5 mg a day, BP will be controlled. Secondly even the thought of the upcoming surgery is also likely to raise the BP by a few mm. So my suggestion is increase the dose to 5 mg daily, for some time, till surgery is over. Later you may look at a lesser dose. Thanks.
