What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels And Pain In Knee On Recovering From Chickungunya?

Hi I am 54 and I have type 2 diabetes . In Sept 2014 I was infected with the Chickungunya virus. Since then I have two problems: 1. an old injury to my knee constantly pains me. 2. My blood glucose has been high 11-16 even though I take my meds every day.(I am on metformin) What are your thoughts or recommendations? Thank You

Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is chickungunya infection with the pre-existing history of knee joint pain so this could be more trouble some, and would be more long lasting with diabetes, here the blood glucose need to be controlled on tight rule basis, and for the pain any NSAID (Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug ) can be taken, steroid gives good result but this need to taken under medical supervision because of your diabetes, hope this information helps, take care.
