What Causes Elevated Body Temperature?

I am a 59 yr. old male. The last couple of weeks I have noticed problems regulating my temperature, especially after hard activity outside. I m usually OK for 3-4 hours, but after that I have trouble shedding heat. I hydrate really well and take frequent breaks, but once I get heated up, I can t seem to get cooled back down and being in direct sun is really bad. It just saps my strength. Afterwards I take a cool shower and get in the air conditioning, but will randomly have my head get very hot and have to put something cool on my head or neck.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think you are suffering from heat stroke. You have to stop working in the sun, take plenty of fluids and electrolytes, take diet rich in vitamins and minerals. Take regular cool showers, ice baths if possible and apply ice. If necessary take antipyretic medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Palleti Sujith Kumar
