What Causes Elevated Calcium Levels In Blood?

I am a 68 year old female with high blood calcium for the last few years. My GP sent me to another doctor, but this other doc doesn t know why I have hypercalcemia either. He has done a 24 hour urine and other blood work, but is puzzled. He says it is not my parathyroid. What would be the next probable cause of this high calcium level in my blood? Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Apart from parathyroid causes, other causes are also there like Paget disease of bone, any other cancer in the body, sarcoidosis, multiple endocrine neoplasia or some drugs like hydrochlorothiazide.

Management varies with the cause. So my suggestion is please consult endocrinologist to identify the cause and its managment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
