What Causes Elevated Liver Enzyme Levels Along With Severe Nausea?

Mrs results came back 4 days ago and it showed that I have cysts on the head and tail of my pancreas liver and bile duct are okLooking back I was put on phone gran 25mg back in early October and when I had my bloods done at the end of October my alt, 62, alkaline phosphates 516,and get 197 were very high! Much higher than they ever were I eat very healthily and have a moderate exercise regime.I am beginning to think that that was the start of my condition. Last 2 evenings I have experienced nausea. Is there a connection there and should I take something to alleviate the nausea What would you recommend.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern.
Liver enzymes are elevated due to pancreatic cyst on head and tail that block the bile duct which produce jaundice due to obstruction in the excretion of bile.
Nausea may be due to jaundice or pressor on duodenum by cyst.

ALP is a marker of cholestasis/obstrucion in bile duct.
It is elevated due to secretion from the epithelial of bile duct and also induce genetic expression of ALP.

For treatment consult the surgeon.
Mostly cyst is benign.
But endoscopic biposy is needed for confirmation.
If it is large > 6 cm and associated with severe symptoms: it needed endoscopic removal

Take tablet panmax-d or ranitidine

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
