What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes While On Medication For Ischemic Colitis And Gerd?

I have been getting treatment lately for ischemic colitis, GERD and barrets esophagus and most recently IBS. On top of this, I have had slightly elevated Liver enzymes for the last 9 months. Recently, I started taking Nexium (40MG) and amitriptyline(5MG), for last 6 weeks, and my blood results came back with very increased AST of 109, ALT of 292, Albumin of 4.0, DBILI of .40 and ALK PHOS of 136. Would you be very concerned and should I stop theses two meds? They are the only thing I take other than 5 MG melatonin at bed.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
I don’t think this is related to your pregnancy. AST (SGOT) and ALT (SGPT) are reasonably sensitive indicators of liver damage or injury from different types of diseases or conditions, and collectively they are termed liver tests or liver blood tests. So the next step is to look for certain liver damage and most common casue is fatty liver disease. It should be confirmed by ultrasound. Other causes are viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, medications, alcohol intake or autoimmune diseases. To verify exact cause, ultrasound, bilirubin levels and tumor markers should be additionaly done Then appropriate treatment can be started.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
