General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

When having a dengue infection, the virus can affect the liver as well, causing inflammation and raised liver enzymes. It usually resolves on its own once the infection settles, and needs no other medication.

Be careful though, if you are just recovering from the fever at day 5 of illness. Dengue typically enters the critical stage at this point, where there is dehydration and the platelet counts drop. Make sure you are being followed up with frequent blood tests until all your blood levels start recovering, including the platelets and liver enzymes.

Hope this helps, and keep well.

Regards,
Dr. Teh
