Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
during my annual physical exam, my liver enzymes were slightly elevated. My doctor wasn t too concerned but since my alcohol consumption is moderate (4-6 drinks per week) he decided to test for Hep C. When the results came back, the liver enzymes were back in the normal range and the Hep C was negative however my ferritin level was 751. he then did a test for Hemochromotosis and it came back negative. He said no porblems and keep doing what I m doing. Everything I read on line says 751 ferritin level is a problem. I started taking statins two years ago and that s when my liver enzymes started rising. Is there a connection between all of this, do I have a problem or do I not have problem as my Dr. says. Very concerned.

What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?
Hello, A statin can increase the liver enzymes level. In our daily practice, we recommend checking liver enzymes level every six months. I suggest you to stop using statine and check regularly the enzyme levels. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
