My son is 38 yrs old and recently diagnosed wwith M S ... I have M S also.. but thats by the way. Recently he had a Lumbar Puncture, and at the visit to hospital for results, the doctor said that his Lymphocyte count was up...is this because of his M S or could it be that he has a really stressful job, also has to travel around 120 miles a day and is always tired

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Generally multiple sclerosis is associated with increased risk of infection. Generally in viral infections the lymphocytes will go up. So your son might be having some infection.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions and I'll be glad to help you.

All the best.

With warm regards,
Dr. Sanjay Kini
