I have had an issue brought up to me by a licensed counselor that I may have a damaged vagus nerve. On top of having sagittal Craniosynostosis since birth, I have also had many respiratory viruses (where I ended up in the ER a couple times a year). Over the past couple of years, my symptoms have caused concern and even though we ve tried certain treatments (Prevacid for stomach, Anafranil for anxiety, prozac for depression), they have not worked. My recent troubles have been exacerbated, but I don t know why. My heart - my pulse has always been higher than it should be, without provocation and I have also been diagnosed with a deep systolic murmur. I was diagnosed with bronchial asthma when I was 4 and have had many respiratory issues since. Recently, I have been having a lot of stomach issues, including dry heaving (or increased gag reflex although it is not a reflex of anything I can come up with), nausea, pain in my stomach (and pain also on the left and right where there was no sign inflammation when I had an ultrasound), I ve had extreme acid reflux to the point where I cannot function, I constantly feel the need to burp but cannot, I won t have to go number 2 for weeks and then all of a sudden I will have diarrhea for 4 to 7 days straight. With all of my GI issues, heart issues, respiratory issues, I also have anxiety which is brought on by nothing, depression that does not go away with medication to the point where some days I just punch myself in the face for no reason. I also experience the shut down issue (which I have read about in the Polyvagal theory) but which was diagnosed as depersonalization disorder about 5 years ago. I would like some feedback because I sadly only have access to community health care and would very much appreciate communication that is sound.
