What Causes Elevated Sugar Levels After Getting A Cortisone Shot?

My mom has type 2 diabetes and got 2 cortizone shots in her knees about 3:00 pm today. Her blood sugar is 345 now. She took another of her blood sugar pills and is drinking lots of water. She said she feels fine right now. Should we just continue to monitor her level or what?
