What Causes Elevated White Blood Cell Count?

I was in the ER last night, and having been reviewing my test results via the patient portal. I was instructed to see my PC as soon as possible. I noticed on the results, that my white blood cell count is quite high 122. Mean Cell, Neutrophil,Lymphocyte, Monocyte, Immature Granolucyte, Red Cell Dist Width CV, also all High ...I ve had cancer of the Thyroid (w/ complete Thyroidectomy)...So I m understandably concerned with these results. I m scheduled to travel in a couple of weeks and will be out of state for over a month. I m undecided as to whether I should try to get in to see my PC regarding these concerns, or if these results might be due to some lowgrade infection?

Hello,

It could be an infection can also be white blood cell cancers. I cannot say without seeing the peripheral blood smear. Also, you need to have an examination of lymph nodes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
