What Causes Elevation In Blood Sugar Levels While On Cartia And Metoprolol?
I am taking 240Mg of Cartia XT XT. & 240Mb of DIL TIAZEM ER. Every morning. STATED. taking these last week to lower blood pressure. I AM A DIABETIC ! I take METOPROLOL 50Mg , twice a day. BLOOD SUGAR READING HAVE SPIKED. 192 , 289 , 334. ( 10 PM tonight )
Cartia xt contains Diltiazem. Cartia and Diltiazem are the same. This is a drug used to treat hypertension, angina, and some types of arrhythmia. It's not used to treat high blood sugar levels (bsl).
Metoprolol neither. So keep checking your bsl, record the results to pass them to your caring doctor. Hba1c test and oral glucose tolerance test to rule out diabetes and treat it adequately. For the moment start following a healthy diet and lifestyle regimen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Albana Sejdini,
