What Causes Elevation In The BP Level And Chest Pain Despite Taking Losartan?

I m having issues with High Blood Pressure. I m taking losartin. I was told to take 100 mg and I took myself down to 50. I was on losartin and wellbutrin but my blood pressure went way up, 181/101 Sometimes my heart hurts. I can feel it in my arms and then it goes into my heart. Just two months ago, I was doing two hour workouts and now I get winded walking up the stairs. I m seeing a Physician s Assistant, but we aren t finding the cause of my problem. I ve done stress tests and doppler tests and blood tests....everything comes back normal. What antidepressants work good with what blood pressure medicine that do not cause weight gain? Gina

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the problems with receptor level where the Losartan works on angiotensin receptor, can be a clue to the resistance to medication or associated renal artery stenosis should be evaluated for persistent high BP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
