What Causes Elevation In The Body Temperature And Eye Redness In A Child?

Hi, my 5 year old boy has had high temps since the early hours. He has sore red eyes that he says feels like they have something in them and are scratchy. He hasn t eaten all day until this evening as he had a dry biscuit earlier today and. Vomited. I cannot see any spots ....any ideas? Is it just viral, and therefore wait it out.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your child seem to be related to a viral infection. The red eyes can be related to conjunctivitis which is an inflammation of the conjunctiva.

I suggest using Tylenol for the fever and give him liquids. I also suggest using artificial tears to relieve the eye symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
