What Causes Elevation In The Liver Enzymes?

During a medical check up the following was observed. After liver function test the following was observed. SGOT (ast 99 u/l
SGPT (ALT) 124 u/l
ALKALINE PHOSPHATE 142 u/l
TOTAL PROTEIN 6.2 GM%
ALBUMIN 4.1 GM%
GLOBULIN 2.1 gm%
Albumin. Globulin 1.9 test conducted on 05 August 2010. Following this report I had medication with ayurvedic treatment. on completion of one month again I had liver function test and the following was received.
SGOT (AST 50 U/L)
SGPT (ALT) 93 u/l
ALKALINE PHOSPHATE 68 u/l
TOTAL PROTEIN 6.4 GM%
ALBUMIN 3.4 GM%
s.GLOBULIN 3.0 gm%
Albumin. Globulin 1.1
I would like to know the reason for the above probelm and how its affects my health. I don't smoke, while on vacation I just take 1 to 2 pegs 3 or 4 times. Since I am in saudi Arabia I can't have the drinks. I take at least 03 to 4 times Oats in a week. One time rice , remaining two times food prepared out of wheat, meat I don't take, maximum fish and at times chicken, fried etc I don't consume

Hi, I hope you are well, the alterations in your liver chemistry demonstrate a mild enzymatic elevation with a hepatocellular pattern, the main causes of enzymatic elevation are:
1. Viral infection (Hepatitis A, B, C virus).
2. Fatty liver.
3. Drug use.
4. Metabolic hepatic diseases (primary biliary cholangitis).
5. Autoimmune hepatic diseases (autoimmune hepatitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis).
6. Genetic / hereditary diseases (Wilson's disease, Hemochromatosis).

It is important to know if you have any metabolic or infection risk factors or associated diseases. In addition, from your laboratory tests it is noteworthy that in your last determination you have serum globulin levels in the upper limit, which may be related to an autoimmune pathology and may be useful for the determination of immunoglobulins or a protein electrophoresis, also antibodies such as ANA, ASMA.
