My husband has developed an enlarged, very red testicle, what would cause such a condition. My husband is now 66 years of age and has never had any problems either with his prostate or his testicles, quite concerned, especially with the deep redness, there is no pain involved at this time, therefore, why would the redness and the great enlargement in the one testicle appear. Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi. Read and understood your history related to your husband who is 66 years old and had never has any problems till now. Since your history is saying about redness and swelling of the testicle I would respond in 2 ways as the history is not complete or completely decifearable. If there is swelling and the redness of the skin of the scrotum, this may be due to insect bite or development of what we call Fornier's gangrene and needs intensive antibiotic therapy and a close observation. IF this is swelling and redness of the testis proper then this is obviously the Ochitis and here too needs intensive antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medication and investigations of blood, urine and ultrasonography and color doppler study.
