What Causes Enlarged Taste Buds And Popping Of Lymph Nodes In Neck?

Hi Doctor I am a 42 yr old female, my dentist noticed enlarge taste bud on my left side of my tongue two years ago, although I was seen by a specialist and he confirmed that nothing concerned him, my dentist is now sending me back to the hospital as i have a lymph node in my neck that has popped out although that has been there for a long time now and it moves around lust like fatty tissue..I was hoping you could give me some advise on what this could be,I do smoke and a little concerned thst this could be cancer. although I have no problems with that side of my throat unless i get anxious as i have suffered badley from anxiety in the past. Otherwise healthy and rarely drink.

Regards

Pat

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain enlarged taste buds can occur due to common conditions like burning with hot foods, injury caused with sharp tooth, tongue bite, deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress etc.
For this you can do warm saline gargles, suck ice pops and take multivitamin supplements..
The other part of your question is enlarged lymph nodes in neck, and it can occur commonly due to infection in head and neck region while other cause for long standing painless and firm lymph nodes can be due to lymphoma which is a malignant condition..
You need to get a biopsy / FNAC of the lymph nodes done to rule out the exact cause of the enlargement and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of infection antibiotics can help while treatment of lymphoma can be done with chemotherapy and radiotherapy..
As of now you can do warm compresses over the lymph nodes..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
