What Causes Episodes Of Breathing Problems And Muscle Spasms In Legs?

My 17 year old son had what he describes as a panick attack on Monday evening ( he found it hard to breath and he got stomach cramps) . He never had anything like that before. Since then there are times he finds it hard to breath and he is getting cramps/ spasms down his leg.
