What Causes Episodes Of Burping Followed By Vomiting And Diarrhea?

Hi. For the past few months I have had episodes of vomiting that always starts the same. I begin to burp like a rotten egg taste, that lasts a few hours, then I begin to have diarrhea and vomiting. It lasts about 8-10 Hours from the time I start burping. After it runs its course I am back to feeling normal. It almost happens exactly every four weeks. Any idea what is causing this or what I can do to prevent it? Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of episodes of burping followed by vomiting and diarrhea.Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like food poisoning , gastroenteritis , irritable bowel syndrome , lactose intolerance , medication reaction or side-effect poisoning. it could be due to dehydration as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , CT scan , ultrasound and endoscopy . Doctor may prescribe ornidazole , laxative , omeprazole along with anti allergic and anti inflammatory. Avoid intake of large meals at a time and take small and frequent meals. You should take eat light and non spicy and take light walk after every meal .
